Overview 

The role of the Physiotherapist at the AUSA Facility involves diagnosing and managing sports injuries in a clinic and performance gym setup.

A physiotherapy internship at AUSA is the perfect opportunity to build confidence with clients and transfer the theoretical knowledge you're learning at university into practical experience. Early practical experience helps build understanding, improve clinical reasoning and prepare students for a career in the physiotherapy profession. 

AUSA provides a unique environment for students to experience the set-up of a professional organisation and work in a multidisciplinary team with elite athletes.

This role allows for a potential career opportunity in a rapidly expanding company.

Details

  • 3-month internship

  • Studying and in the final year of an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy and or Masters of physiotherapy studies.

  • Hours negotiable, approximately 8-12 hours per week - over 2-3 days 

  • Commence as soon as possible 

  • At either Chatswood or Alexandria Facility 

Requirements 

  • Individual goal setting and reviews throughout the internship to maximise your time and learning at AUSA. 

  • Reliable, passionate, and trustworthy 

  • Be relationship-focused, and able to build relationships with staff and members. 

  • Shadow and support physiotherapists, S&C coaches, and performance assistants with sessions and classes. 

  • One-on-one and group mentoring

  • Active Participation in athlete/client assessment, diagnosis, and management

  • Report to Performance Lead

  • Present to the team a topic of interest to you

Responsibilities & Opportunities 

  • Learn from experienced health professionals and performance coaches 

  • Apply your knowledge and skills learned through University. 

  • Develop skills in clinical reasoning, assessment, and diagnosis. 

  • Develop skills in taping, and load management.

  • Develop skills in rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and program development.

  • Understand the benefits of collaboration and how a multidisciplinary team works together.

  • Assist and lead client rehabilitation and injury management, in classes and one on one
